NEWS: scammers held in Montego Bay

 

The authorities are reporting another successful lottery scam bust in Montego Bay this morning. The lottery scam task force detained 8 persons yesterday, seizing more than US$13,000, J$250,000, three motor vehicles, two high-power motorcycles, computers, cellular phones and 2,319 uncustomed cigars. Sargeant Camille Tracey confirmed that the detainees are now being processed.


Yardflex understands that the operation was conducted just before dawn simultaneously across three communities in St. James; Lilliput, Red Ground and Bogue Village. In Lilliput, an unfinished three-storey building was searched and the three cars, two 600 CBR motorcycles, the cigars and the cash were found. Six persons, including three women, were detained.


The lottery scam task force has been working overtime to catch persons implicated in the scamming of scores of persons in the United States, conning them out of millions of dollars and they seem to be making headways.


The Western Union branches in Montego Bay remains close as they try to tighten security in order to stop the lottery scam.
