News:4 men in custody over hostage standoff
The four men who were held in connection with Tuesday's hostage stand off at an apartment complex on Haining Road in St. Andrew, remain in custody.
It's reported that about 6 o'clock yesterday evening thugs entered the complex and went to one of the apartments where they held up a family.
The police were alerted and there was a stand-off which ended with the property being stormed by the police and the hostages rescued.
Neither the family members nor the gunmen were injured during the operation.
A firearm and a motor vehicle were also seized.
Meanwhile the Police High Command has praised members of the JCF team for the quick and successful response to yesterday's hostage situation.
Commissioner Owen Ellington noted that the professional conduct of the members who responded exemplifies the standards of the noble organization.
He says the men and women of the JCF have continually demonstrated their resolve and capacity to effectively protect citizens from criminals.
The High Command also used the opportunity to implore all members to remain steadfast in their commitment to service and professionalism.
Commissioner Ellington urged the men and women under his command to continue to uphold the JCF's mission through professional service to the public, loyalty to the organization and support for each other.
