Smirnoff Dream Week got off to a blistering start in Negril, Westmoreland, on Wednesday with the Dream Live Concert setting the tone for the slate of parties to follow.
Thousands of party fans were treated to a slew of hits from Aidonia, Sean Paul, Popcaan, Beenie Man, Khago and new kid on the block Tommy Lee.
DJ Nicco set the pace for a treat, having people in the jam-packed venue following his every instruction as he reeled off hits from every genre of music - not excluding rock, calypso and gospel.
The indomitable Coppershot, celebrating its 18th anniversary, came next and, despite a slow start, showed why it was one of the most sought-after sound systems. International platinum-selling artiste Sean Paul was the first of the big names to perform, reeling off hits from his Tomahawk Technique album and other songs, while Khago passed through.
Then came Aidonia like a man on a mission. He showed he is learning his craft, giving a performance that showed maturity. After came two of the hottest acts in dancehall today. First, it was Popcaan, who appears to be dwelling in the shadows of his fellow Gaza Empire member. Tommy Lee continues to bask in the popularity of hit songs such as Tom and Jerry and Dem Nuh Bad. While his performance was not anything to write home about, he did take the patrons on a sing-along.
Beenie Man refused to be upstaged and though many closing acts face the problem of patrons leaving after having had a long night, nobody could move as the Doctor gave another stellar performance.
