NEWS: First Ever Dream Week Begins Today

Since conceptualised in 2009, the Smirnoff Dream Weekend has become a staple on the entertainment calendar and an annual event that many patrons look forward to. This year, the event is poised to be even bigger with a total of 11 major events including a live concert to kick things off on Emancipation Day, August 1.
The concert is in recognition of the work of famed DJ group, Coppershot, which will also be celebrating its 18th anniversary.

The party will feature performances from I-Octane, Beenie Man, Popcaan, Aidonia, Tommy Lee and others at Cayenne Beach, Negril.

The event goes from 6 p.m. today until 2 a.m. tomorrow, during which the Smirnoff bar will supply patrons with an assortment of mouth-watering new vodka flavour, including the new additions of blueberry, coconut and cherry. There will also be bucket deals and drink specials throughout the night.

With some of Jamaica's finest disc jockeys such as DJ Liquid, DJ Nicco, DJ Absolute and Coppershot around the turntables, it is certain that patrons will be visiting the bar regularly.

Marsha Lumley, Smirnoff brand manager, is expecting another spectacular staging and turnout.

"We have created a premier event for you to enjoy, so we encourage you to get your bands early and be prepared to party responsibly," Lumley said.

She also reminded patrons they needed valid identification for entry.

"We are making sure that everyone at our events is 18 and older. We have to take a responsible role in this weekend so we are implementing rules to keep our patrons safe," Lumley explained.

Following the Dream Live Concert, today will be the Beach Rave House Music Party tomorrow, Igloo and Twisted Spiritz on Friday, Daydreams and Yush on Saturday, Extreme Wet and Wild, Dream Miami Jouvert and Beer Vibes on Sunday, then the closing Smirnoff Xclusive and Shorts Circuit on Independence Day.

For the past weeks, the anticipation has been growing and season bands have been selling quickly. The dream team and Smirnoff undertook a consumer-promotion giveaway valued at $1 million recently, appearing at various locations across the island, giving away tickets to lucky participants.

"They are certainly making the experience worthwhile, it's an event that I can't allow myself to miss," said Mark Kirkland, a loyal dreamer.

"We've been paying keen attention to our patrons and their response to the events, they love the vibe. We're also including Dream Miami J'Ouvert this year. Our partners in Miami have brought this experience down to Jamaica to deliver another exciting experience for the weekend. It's all about our patrons, we deliver what they request," Kamal Bankay, one of the promoters assured.

"Dream Weekend is not just a series of events, it's a lifestyle. Dream Entertainment Limited, the powerhouse behind the event, promises endless satisfaction and fun with improved shuttle service, vast and hassle-free bars and pulsating entertainment, all surrounded by a safe and secure 24-hour partying environment," Bankay explained.
